I am running 5 unique workshops with 12 women who have been out of work for between 6 months and 15 years. All of these women are bright, intelligent and resourceful and have a lot to offer. They have, to different extents, lost sight of this.
3 workshops and 36 hours of individual coaching later and I am inspired to look at how the wonderful talents of these women have not been realised sooner. The decision to take a break to look after their families was a conscious one for most but generally in the workplace it can be a decision that a woman is forced to take due to inflexibility of employers.
It’s refreshing to see this being addressed by big business. Maersk, Netflix and Vodafone are amongst the growing number of businesses recognising that supporting women when they return to work not only retains talented women but can also improve the company culture.
