Has Your Work Landscape Changed, Like Mine?

“What does the landscape look like?”

I ask this question of my coaching clients often when they are navigating a personal or professional challenge. We use the Landscape metaphor as a way of shifting their perspective and seeing possibility.

It’s a powerful question, and when I ask this of myself, I realise that my landscape looks very different today.

We all had to adapt to the pandemic; in the midst of that I coped with a major family illness. We watched and reacted to the murder of George Floyd, and the world is still reeling from tangible changes in the landscape of the world of work.

I’ve been inspired to invest heavily in my own personal development to keep me at the top of my game, and I am in the process of completing my ICF Accredited Master Coach qualification.

In the process, I’ve worked through a lot of what I address in my programmes: self-doubt, mindset, identifying and articulating my value, examining my purpose, my brand and what I want to be known for.

And so what is it that I want to be known for?

I still believe in Work that Matters and a Life You Love. Specifically, I am focusing on my work as an Executive Coach and Leadership Development Specialist who is committed to helping individuals and organisations create equitable and inclusive environments. When individuals feel (and know!) that their voices are heard and their work truly matters, they will experience a more joyful, fulfilled life.

I’ve learnt so much in this time, which I look forward to writing about in more detail.

In sum:

Life is truly too short

We need bouncebackability

Resilience is more important than ever

Your circle is key

We deserve to be discerning about whom we surround ourselves with

We can always trust our instinct

It pays to be bold

No matter how your landscape is changing - whether the changes are ones you initiate or are struggling to endure - look for the people, resources and lessons that support you, validate you and embolden you. And know that I’m here to help however I can.
